STAINED GLASS WINDOW, FLOOR TILE MURAL, PAINTED PORCH & PAINTED WOODEN BOOT BOX

Molly was originally approached by Brighton residents Rachel & Iwan to paint one of her designs on their house exterior. As time went on and their renovation project evolved, Rachel & Iwan decided to invite Molly to work her collage magic on their porch interior, along with the exciting opportunity to design a stained glass window for their front door. Molly’s artwork will now greet Rachel & Iwan’s visitors with her colourful designs, inspired by Brighton’s vibes and seaside location.

Molly collaborated with London Door Company to create technical drawings for the stained glass door panel. She drew the design on a tablet, overlaying it onto a photo of the door, and had samples sent to get the colours right. For the tile mural, Molly began her process in analogue using pencil and paper before digitally overlaying her designs onto a photo of the porch. Responding to awkward shapes in three dimensions was a new challenge, but working digitally allowed Molly to adapt the design to the contours of the porch. Digital Ceramics provided the tiles and ceramic printing for Molly’s bespoke design.

Molly used a paper-cut collage process to design the porch mural and paintwork on the wooden boot box. Translating these analogue designs into digital allowed her to make them more abstract so they could come together perfectly as a coherent environment with the stained glass window and floor tiles.
