MOLLY HAWKINS
Molly Hawkins is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer passionate about creating impactful public art that reimagines ordinary spaces into places of connection, colour and joy. Using the world as her canvas, her work brings people together through playful placemaking.
Born in Sheffield, with creative roots in Bristol, Hastings and Berlin, Molly’s artistic journey began with a childhood full of storytelling, travel and making. With a background in theatre design, she has spent the past 10 years bringing vibrant large-scale artworks to streets, schools and even basketball courts across the UK and as far afield as Mexico, Colombia and Europe.
Molly works with collage at the heart of her process, using it as a tactile and intuitive way to explore stories, shapes and rhythm through hands-on making. Her style is bold, colourful and full of energy, with playful cut-out shapes and layered compositions bringing movement, positivity and joy to every space she works in.
Fascinated by the energy of colour and inspired by natural forms, Molly believes in the power of creative collaboration to build connection and inspire optimism. Her artistic approach is centred around community, ensuring each piece reflects local stories, voices and identities. From co-design sessions to hands-on workshops, she is dedicated to making art accessible and creating space for meaningful participation. Her work invites interaction, pride and a shared sense of belonging.
Clients and collaborators include the NHS, Arts Council England, Surfers Against Sewage, Lucy & Yak, FatFace, Finisterre and POSCA. Key projects include the UK’s first 3x3 basketball court mural, a 22-metre mural at the EQ Building in Bristol, and a piece for the Taylor Swift art trail.
Molly’s work can be found in Bristol, London, Berlin, Mexico, Warsaw, Colombia, Berlin, Liverpool, Essex, Manchester, Leeds, Bath, Lancaster, Wales, Flensburg and Stuttgart.
She has received Arts Council funding, national and local grants, and has been featured by BBC News, Sky Sports, Observer Magazine and Design Week.
